Natalie Bloom completed a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Communication) at RMIT in 1992. A year later she started Bloom Cosmetics, which grew into an internationally recognised brand focused on natural ingredients and beautiful packaging. She was named RMIT’s Alumnus of the Year (now called the Outstanding Alumni Awards) in 2012.http://www.bloomcosmetics.com
Dr Christine Durham completed her PhD in 2012. She has become an advocate for people with acquired brain injury, been awarded Brainlink’s 2012 Woman of Achievement, and is the Victorian Senior Australian of the Year 2014. She has two books about to be released: Unlocking My Brain through the labyrinth of Acquired Brain Injury, Jane Curry Publishing, in February; and Chasing Ideas – enhancing your child’s confidence and curiosity, Finch Publishing, in May.
Bobbi Fabian is a Melbourne-born photographer living in Los Angeles. She received her Bachelor’s degree and Masters in Photography from RMIT University. A freelance commercial photographer for the past 20 years, she works on commissions and personal projects while teaching and chairing the photo department at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. Juan Ford completed a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) with Honours in 1999 and a Master of Fine Art in 2002, both from RMIT. He is best known as a realist artist of people, landscape, nature, light and shadow. He has exhibited extensively throughout Australia and was part of the NGV’s recent Melbourne Now exhibition, where he was a guest speaker at RMIT’s alumni event.http://www.juanford.com

Ryan Lee graduated from RMIT with a Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) in 2001. He founded Singapore-based electronics company XMI in 2006, producing innovative, pocket-sized audio speakers called x-mini that are now sold in more than 80 countries. He won RMIT’s Outstanding Alumni Award (international) in 2013.http://www.x-mini.com
Janelle Low completed a Diploma of Photo Imaging at RMIT in 2010 and is the university’s Diploma of Photo Imaging graduate-in-residence for 2013/14. She is a Melbourne-based photographer specialising in art documentation and portraiture and in 2013 she became the youngest winner of the prestigious National Photographic Portrait Prize. Janelle took the shots accompanying Christine Durham’s story.
Bob Isherwood is the former Worldwide Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi, received an honorary doctorate from RMIT in 2007, and completed a Diploma of Advertising Art in 1966. In 2007 he received the Clio Lifetime Achievement Award for advertising. He won Australia’s first Gold Lion for cinema at the Cannes International Advertising Festival and a British Design and Art Direction gold award for advertising. Bob has been elected to the Clio Hall of Fame in the US and the Writers and Art Directors Hall of Fame in Australia.
Kate Johansson graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship) in 2008. She participated in the Business Plan Competition in 2011, winning the Lord Mayor’s City of Melbourne Prize for Best Social Enterprise. Since then, she has founded several internet-based start-up ventures, including Athelite Nutrition (sports nutrition supplements scientifically developed for athletes), Nourish Education and Koja (a real food alternative to chemically produced supplements and pills).http://www.koja.com.au
Danny Lim graduated from RMIT with a Bachelor of Arts (Photography) in 1996. He has worked as a photojournalist covering politics and crime with the Star Publication in Malaysia, and was also the official photographer for the World Gourmet Summit, Gourmet Abu Dhabi, and Gourmet Asia. Toni Maticevski graduated from RMIT with Honours in 1998 and won the Fashion Group International Award. He took up an internship with Donna Karan and worked at Cerutti in Paris for two years before returning to Melbourne to launch his own label in 1999. His debut collection won the LMFF Designer Award at the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2002. He won RMIT’s Outstanding Alumni Award (Australia) in 2013.http://www.tonimaticevski.com
Sir Jonathan Mills was appointed Director of the Edinburgh International Festival in 2006. Previously he was director of the Melbourne Festival, the Brisbane Biennial International Music Festival and other Australian festivals. He completed a Master of Architecture at RMIT in 1999 and was a Research Fellow, Composer-in-Residence and Adjunct Professor at RMIT. He is also an acclaimed composer.
Nguyen Thuy Tinh Ca (Kaci) graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from RMIT Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) in 2007. She has since worked in marketing for several big international companies such as Nike, L’Oreal, Porsche and most recently, the Singapore Tourism Board. Kaci is now studying for her second degree at RMIT, having enrolled in a Master of Project Management at the Ho Chi Minh Campus.
Emma Phillips graduated from a Diploma of Arts (Applied Photography) in 2005 and now works as a freelance portrait photographer. She has shot images for ads and magazines including Rolling Stone, Marie Claire, JWT, Leo Burnett, DDB, Good Weekend, Jetstar Magazine, the AFL, Sunday Magazine and AJF Partnership. In 2012, she was a finalist in the National Portrait Prize and was Highly Commended in the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize. She took the images accompanying Natalie Bloom’s story.
Karen Webster completed a Diploma in Arts (Fashion) in 1982 and a Master of Arts (Fashion) in 1996. She is currently Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT. She has directed the Melbourne Fashion Festival, was appointed the first female Board Director of the Council of the Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia, and also the Chair of the Australian Fashion Council. In 2012, she was inducted into the Fashion Hall of Fame in Melbourne.
Dr Hugh Williams completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Computer Science) in 1991, Honours in 1995, and his PhD in Computer Science in 1998, all at RMIT. He was recently appointed as Senior Vice-President of Engineering at Pivotal. He spent more than four years as Vice-President of Experience, Search, and Platforms at eBay, leading a large cross-disciplinary team. Prior to eBay, he spent more than four years managing a search engine R&D team at Microsoft’s Bing. He was an Associate Professor at RMIT from 1994 to 2004.http://www.hughewilliams.com
Emily Wright graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art (printmaking) from RMIT in 2002 and was still a student when she sold her first collection of bags and purses. After graduating, she launched her accessories label Nancybird with the assistance of the Federal Government’s National Enterprise Initiative Scheme.
