We’re absolutely delighted to present you with the very first issue of RMIT’s new magazine created especially for you, our alumni. This is an exciting and innovative new platform for you to engage with your alumni network – not to mention a great read.
We’re calling our first issue ‘The Visionaries’ for two reasons.
First, because of the extraordinary RMIT alumni who have taken part in the magazine: from fashion designer Toni Maticevski, cosmetics queen Natalie Bloom, and the creator of x-mini portable speakers Ryan Lee (all RMIT Outstanding Alumni Award winners), to honorary doctorate recipient and Edinburgh International Festival director Sir Jonathan Mills AO and many more.
Their incredible stories show you how alumni have turned their vision into a reality.
Second, here at RMIT, we want to continue to help our alumni community thrive. Our vision is to support and grow the connections between our global alumni networks – and that includes you.
Why? Because alumni are an essential part of the story of RMIT.The university’s vision is to be global, urban and connected, and alumni are a fundamental part of that.
But what does it mean for you exactly?
There are more than 300,000 people around the world, in 130 countries, in all facets of business, community, government and the arts, who have the shared experience of studying at RMIT.
You are connected to this vast network of people. These are people who can give you access into industries, people who can be part of your professional networks, people with incredible ideas, people who can inspire you.
This magazine is a platform for you to connect to RMIT and the alumni community. RMIT’s Advancement team (responsible for alumni and donor engagement) has been working hard to build ways for you to connect to both RMIT University and the alumni community, online or in person. Many of these are outlined throughout this magazine, so don’t miss these opportunities and help us build on them.
You can also send us your ideas, comments and feedback on this magazine or your ideas for the alumni community in general – comment on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or email us - please tell us what you think.
We hope that our vision for a strong alumni community will continue to create opportunities for each of you. So please join us and make it your own.
With best wishes,
